The teams stand on their lines. Two blues and one red have a ball.
How to run it
Two teams face each other with a row of cones in the middle. Pass along your lane and try to hit the cone – the other team receives and passes back. A playful way to work on passing technique and accuracy.
Set-up
Two lines about 16 m apart, five cones on the middle line 3 m apart. Three players per team and three balls. Players change lanes during the game.
Instructions
- 1The teams stand on their lines. Two blues and one red have a ball.
- 2A pass along the lane – it hits the cone and rolls on to the other team.
- 3The next pass. A red takes the ball across to a new lane.
- 4Red passes back, blue moves into the lane and receives.
- 5Blue receives and moves the ball to a free lane.
- 6New passes at the cones from both sides.
- 7Keep passing and moving – every hit is a point.
- 8Next level: everyone takes two steps back, now the cones are further away.
- 9Passes from the longer distance.
- 10Keep going until the coach says stop – which team has the most hits?
Coaching points
- Standing foot next to the ball and the toe pointing at your target.
- Pass with the inside of the foot, ankle locked, and follow through.
- Receive with the inside and set the ball before the next pass.
- Put the cones back up after every hit and count out loud.
Variations
Easier
A shorter distance and bigger cones, or the cones closer together.
Harder
