2v1 – Pass or Go Alone

Floorball15 min7 players10 steps
AttackingGame understandingIntermediate

Two attackers at the centre line, the ball with the player on the left. One defender in front of goal, the next one waits in the corner.

How to run it

Two attackers against one defender. The ball carrier skates at the defender and reads what they do: pass to the free player or go alone. Trains game understanding and decisions at speed.

Set-up

The attackers queue in two lines at the centre line, one on each wing. The defenders wait in the corner. Goalie in goal.

Instructions

  1. 1Two attackers at the centre line, the ball with the player on the left. One defender in front of goal, the next one waits in the corner.
  2. 2The pair skates forward in two lanes. The ball carrier keeps the ball close to the stick.
  3. 3The ball carrier skates straight at the defender so they have to make a choice.
  4. 4The defender goes to the ball – pass to the free player.
  5. 5One-timer from the edge of the slot.
  6. 6Next pair. A new defender comes in from the corner and the first pair skates back on the outside.
  7. 7The pair skates forward again.
  8. 8This defender stays in the passing lane.
  9. 9The pass is closed – the ball carrier goes alone towards goal.
  10. 10Shot. Change defenders after a few repetitions.

Coaching points

  • The ball carrier must skate at the defender, not towards the board – otherwise the defender doesn't have to choose.
  • The player without the ball keeps the distance and is available level with or slightly behind the ball.
  • Pass once the defender has committed – not too early.
  • Defender: stay between the players, close the pass and let the goalie take the shot.

Variations

Easier

The defender starts further back or plays passively.

Harder

3v2, a time limit on the finish, or the defender may counter after winning the ball.
