Freeze Tag with a Ball
A playful warm-up where everyone has a ball. The children dribble, look up and protect the ball – and help each other by rescuing frozen team-mates.
Technique Track
A track with a slalom, a hurdle and a turning cone that ends with a shot on the goalie. The children practise carrying the ball, playing it past an obstacle and finishing – in one flowing exercise with lots of repetitions.
Ball Control in the Square
Everyone dribbles in a square while the coach calls commands: forehand, backhand, round a cone, stop, swap balls and full speed. Lots of ball contact plus listening and looking up.
Passing Square – Pass and Follow
Five players and four corners: pass to the next corner and follow your pass. Players practise passing and receiving on both forehand and backhand, and moving after the pass.
Slalom and Shot from the Wings
Two lanes of cones run from the wings in towards the slot. Players dribble the slalom and shoot, alternating from right and left. After the shot the player changes sides so both directions are practised.
Wall Pass and Finish
Dribble towards the cone, play a wall pass with a player at the board, run past the cone and take the return pass in the slot to finish. Trains passing at speed, moving after the pass and shooting.
3v3 to Goals
Small-sided 3v3 without goalies to two real goals. Lots of touches, finishes and quick transitions between attack and defence.
1v1 from the Corner
The defender passes out from the corner and closes down. The attacker has to get past with a fake and finish. If the defender wins the ball he counters at a goal by the centre line. Trains both attacking 1v1 and defending in front of goal, with a goalie.
2v1 – Pass or Go Alone
Two attackers against one defender. The ball carrier skates at the defender and reads what they do: pass to the free player or go alone. Trains game understanding and decisions at speed.
Goalie – Angles and Play Behind the Goal
The goalie practises getting set for shots from three angles and following the ball behind the goal and out into the slot. The shooters get plenty of finishes.
Breakout from the Defensive Zone
The team plays out of its own zone against three forecheckers: goalie, defender, defender behind the goal, up the board to the swinging centre and out to the far winger. Ends with an attack on the other goal.
Forechecking and Transition
Three players forecheck the opponents' build-up. F1 pressures the ball carrier, F2 locks the board and F3 reads the pass to the middle. Win the ball high up the rink and finish quickly.
5v5 Game – Transition
A game with the theme of transition. When the ball is won the team must counter within five seconds, when it is lost everyone backchecks at once. The goalie starts the counter with a quick throw-out.
